Large job in Bexhill on Sea recently completed. The work was in three stages comprising of a large sash window bay to be completely renovated with slimline double glazing units retro fitted into the existing original Victorian sashes. Completely painted inside and out to a totally finished professional state and draught proofed. The second stage comprised of an original 1920s conservatory to be completely restored back to its original state keeping as much of the original wood as possible and adding laminated safety glass to the roof.
The final stage was the addition of composite decking to the back garden to wrap around the conservatory and provide a contemporary addition to the Victorian house and art deco conservatory. The decking also needed to have a hidden access hatch allowing easy access to the basement when required and was to be powered by high quality gas struts enabling easy lifting of the 7ft long, 60kg hidden door.
Decking starting to take shape. The frame itself has to be strong and engineered to take the weight of the composite decking boards which weigh approx 15kg a board. Hidden access hatch to basement fitted and ready for gas struts and composite decking to be fitted. An extra covered area was constructed by our team for some shade during the summer months.
Decking finished. Access hatch invisible until needed. The composite decking itself comes in many colours and finishes and is nonslip and requires no maintenance unlike wood decking boards. They will also last forever as they do not rot.
Start of conservatory job, as you can see all the roof glass is broken and all the glazing bars have been replaced with tape in an attempt to stop the water getting in. The shiplap on the front is all rotten and will need replacing as will all the joists to ensure everything is solid and good to last another hundred years.
Conservatory finished and looking as good as it originally did with the added benefit of modern laminated safety glass. Professionally painted inside and out by our team so no need to call in other tradesmen when we are gone.
Work carried out to a property in Hastings which involved the complete repair and renovation of a porch. The underside was rotten and needed replacing. Decades of quick fixes had left it in a sorry state and everything was replaced including the joists and posts holding the porch up.
This rotten timber in Eastbourne had started to let water penetrate into the house causing damage to the internal plaster work. By replacing all the failed timber on the sides and the underneath we were able to stop the damage caused by the water ingress. The finished woodwork will be professionally painted by our team of painters and decorators to make it last for decades.
