Sash windows in need of extensive repair on a recent project in Bexhill. All window cills were rotten and needed replacing, as did the lower box frames of each window. The top multi-pane windows were fixed in place and needed removing carefully before being repaired and routed out ready for double glazed units. The sash windows themselves needed to be renovated and strengthened to take the new Slimline double glazing units that we were going to install
Here you can see the cill and lower box frame replaced and ready for the finishing touches. Our expert tradesmen are highly experienced in sash window repair and rebuild the box frames in like materials and using the same methods when originally created. The next step was the restoration to the rest of the box frames and start work on preparing the windows ready for the double glazed units
The finished product, sash window restoration completed just in time for Christmas. Professionally painted inside and out and new locks fitted. All non-moving windows with multiple glazing bars at the top are fixed back in place with 24 separate double glazed units installed. Small separate glazing units were installed to keep the original construction of the windows and character of the house rather than one larger unit with modern adhesive glazing bars stuck on which can make the windows look like upvc . All sash windows are working smoother than they did originally because we replaced all of the original pulleys with modern brass ones that use ball bearings to enable a quiet, smooth operation. With the double glazing and draught-proofing throughout these windows will be looking and performing perfectly for many, many years to come.
